Dan Powell dismissing murder charges in District Court

Yesterday’s Crisfield County Times was full of news about our illustrious Stet’s Attorney, Dan Powell. Most notable was the news that, on November 30, 2012, Dan Powell himself nolle prossed murder charges against Terry Clifton White in the October 19, 2012 murder case of Thomas Lane Edwards.

This is the second break that Terry Clifton White has received from Dan Powell. As reported here in late October, Terry White was set from in March of this year by Dan Powell when armed robbery and handgun charges were placed on the stet docket.

Since we last reported on the Thomas Lane Edwards murder, other suspects have been arrested, including Barry Bourckel, whose armed roberry and handgun charges were nolle prossed by Dan Powell in September 2010 in exchange for a one year suspended sentence to assault.

Another person charged in the murder, Elijah Gerald, had received, count them, not one, not two, but three breaks from Dan Powell just this year. The first week of August, Dan Powell pled down drug and resisting arrest charges against Gerald down to a PBJ to not obeying a police officer. The second week of August, Dan Powell dropped MDOP charges against Gerald. Finally, even after he had been charged in the murder, Gerald had assault charges dropped just last week.

Just this week, Dan Powell dropped accessory to murder charges against Curtis Corbin.

This is so outrageous. Dan Powell must see nothing wrong with attempted murder. It has also become increasingly clear that he is just taking a paycheck and doing nothing. Dan, we-the taxpayers- are paying your salary. If you have not cared to do your job in two years, quit. Our county deserves better.

Don’t hate on Dan Powell for doing his JOB! Look just face it cops do fuck up n if you are going to charge someone for the murder of Thomas Edwards get the evidence or proof they must don’t have it. Can’t no 6 suspects kill one dam man… and have all these ridiculous charges that won’t hold up in the court of law. And truth be known these suspects all hung with Thomas Edwards. So I say to CPD keep looking and stop relying on anonymous people that call in with a name.

I say let them all go. All 6 suspects cause that’s what they are. Looks that way to me. Great job Dan Powell. He already knows that CPD is going to F–k this murder case up. Looks like they already have. 6 suspects for killing one man. Get real…..
