Stan Harmon doesn’t get PBJ for DWI

When the Crisfield Times reported on Lt. Stan Harmon’s DWI conviction, Chief of Police Mike Tabor said that he would wait and see if the judge granted a modification of Harmon’s suspended sentence before deciding whether to take disciplinary action against the Crisfield police officer and staunch Dan Powell supporter.

Around the time that the Crisfield Times article appeared, Harmon’s lawyers filed a motion to modify his sentence on June 14 and on June 29 a motion for reconsideration. The Anne Arundel County state’s attorney opposed these requests.

As of June 12, 2011, the judge ruled and the case is now marked Closed/Inactive, and Harmon’s sentence has stayed the same. The judge denied his request for probation before judgment, leaving him with a conviction on his record.

The judge did modify Harmon’s probation to allow him to operate a police cruiser without an ignition interlock device on the vehicle. (From April 27, 2011 until July 12, he has been under court order not to drive unless it is a vehicle with this device.) According to the judge’s notes:

Jail Text:
1 YEAR AT AADC SUSPENDED; 1 YEAR SUPERVISED PROBATION
COURT COSTS $185.00
*******************************************************
7/12/11 MODIFICATION PER JUDGE JAKLITSCH: THAT THE PROBATION ORDER ENTERED ON APRIL 27, 2011 IS MODIFIED SO AS TO ALLOW DEFENDANT HARMON TO OPERATE A NON-INTERLOCK-EQUIPPED VEHICLE FOR EMPLOYMENT PURPOSES ONLY, SO LONG AS DEFENDANT HARMON MAINTAINS IGNITION INTERLOCK ON HIS PERSONAL VEHICLE FOR THE DURATION SPECIFIED IN THE ORIGINAL PROBATION ORDER.*************

    He should be fired.

So, from what I’m reading, from April 27 until July 12, Stan Harmon either had an ignition interlock device on his police cruiser or he was breaking the law.

Or Crisfield was paying him for not working. What a waste of resources. He is at least a two-time loser. No cop can keep their job after two DWIs.

Seems like its Tabors move now

What a role model! He should be fired. Unless our mayor and councel put pressure on Tabor to fire Harmon, none of them will return to office. Crisfield has had enough.

Fire Harmon–replace him with someone who OBEYS the laws.

How can a cop ENFORCE the law when he himself can’t OBEY the law.

I can see it now…. “Hurry, there’s been a shooting in the projects.” “Ok, we’ll send all available officers.” “Hold on, Stan’s gotta blow into the interlock machine before his car will start. We’ll be there in ten minutes.”

man, learn to read it said, no interlock in the cruiser. Its a good thing its anonymous

Oh, haha. you are right. I guess Tabor will just let him take his cruiser home with him so he will never have to blow.

There should never be an interlock device in a police cruiser because there should never be a policeman behind the wheel who has had two DUI’s

Crisfield is gonna be a joke if they let him stay on.

What is Chief Tabor honestly going to say to the Mayor and Council to justify keeping Stan Harmon on the force? Maybe Stan Harmon hoped no one would find out about his troubles, but now that it is in the newspaper, he has got to go. Will the training commission allow him to keep his card?

Maybe Dan Powell will hire Stan Harmon to be the special investigator at the State’s Attorney’s office.
